Devices that mostly report, supervision warnings that come and go, batteries that drain quickly because the device keeps retransmitting at full power. Retrofit cabling in 1950s-70s homes: the routes are there if you know them

Detector placement and the roof-space wildlife problem

Can possums or mice in the roof set off my alarm?
Not directly if the system is designed properly — detectors belong in the living space, not the roof cavity. Wildlife causes trouble indirectly: chewed cables and activity that can unsettle a poorly placed detector.
